Beaver Scouts
Contact: Via Office
Beaver scouts are the youngest section of the scouting movement and both boys and girls from the age of 6 up to 8 years old can join.
The 6th Morpeth Methodist 'colony' meets during school term time only in the Methodist Church Hall every Thursday (occasionally the day or time changes, but it is hightlighted in the programme when this occurs) at 5pm until 6pm, and more recently (due to popular demand) another colony has formed and they meet on a Wednesday night.
During the Spring/Summer term, most meetings take place outdoors (weather permitting) and include a varied selection of local walks, sports based games, BBQ's, town trails and visits to the park etc. Venues for drop off and collection are advised in the programme, which is issed at the start of each new term.
From the beginning of October onwards all sessions are held inside and comprise a diverse range of activities such as cooking (always a favourite), crafts, badgework and an annual trip to a pantomime.
Additionally there are a few District events throughout the year when we meet other colonies for a sports night, 5 a side tournament, swimming and usually a trip to pirate island at Christmas.
The subscription is £15 per term and covers all the events during that period plus the initial issue of a neckerchief, woggle and various bages that go on the beaver top following their investiture into the colony.
Having attained their 8th birthday it is time for beaver scouts to 'swim up' into the 6th Morpeth Methodist cub scout section.
For further information on joining or details of how to get your son or daughter on the waiting list, please leave your contact details at the church reception desk and one of the leaders will contact you in due course.
